How to Choose Replacement Filters for a Pet Fountain

A replacement fountain filter needs to match the filter holder inside your fountain. The reservoir's capacity and the general shape of the machine are only starting points. Before ordering, compare the cartridge's outline, measurements, center opening and the way it sits in its holder.

The JubelPets Pet Fountain Replacement Filters are third-party replacement accessories for selected square 2.5 L fountains, offered in four- and eight-packs. They are not a complete fountain, and a square 2.5 L reservoir alone does not confirm compatibility.

Make a compatibility record before shopping

Find your fountain's maker and model on its label or instructions. If it has a replacement-part number, write that down too. Take a clear photo of the existing cartridge beside a ruler and another of the empty holder. This gives you a much better comparison than a photo of the outside of the fountain.

What to compare with the replacement
Detail Why to check it
Outer outline and width The cartridge must sit in the intended recess without folding or leaving an unintended gap.
Center opening Its position and size must match the holder or water outlet passing through it.
Thickness The cover needs to close as designed without crushing the cartridge.
Holder and orientation Check how the replacement is supported and which way it is installed.
Model or part information Similar-looking machines can use different replacements; resolve any mismatch before ordering.

The JubelPets product diagram shows an approximately 4.8-inch-wide cartridge, a 1.4-inch center opening and 0.35-inch thickness. Treat these as approximate diagram measurements and compare the actual holder and the selected product details. Do not stretch, cut or force a sealed cartridge to make a mismatch fit.

Choose the pack after confirming fit

A four-pack is a smaller initial purchase when you are restocking one confirmed-compatible fountain. An eight-pack provides more spares if you already use this cartridge and have a suitable place to keep them. Pack count changes how many replacements you receive; it does not change compatibility or establish how long each filter will last.

Keep unused replacements clean and dry in their packaging. Avoid leaving open packs beside a sink or in the pet's drinking area. A spare is most useful when you can identify which fountain it belongs to, so keep its product details with your fountain instructions.

Install it using the fountain's instructions

  1. Switch off and disconnect a powered fountain as its instructions require before taking it apart.
  2. Remove the old cartridge and clean accessible water-contact parts using the fountain's care directions.
  3. Rinse the new filter as directed for that product. Do not add soap or other cleaning chemicals to the cartridge unless its instructions explicitly allow it.
  4. Place it in the intended holder and orientation, then reassemble without forcing the cover.
  5. Refill with clean drinking water to the instructed level and check operation while present.

Keep another clean water bowl available while the fountain is being cleaned or checked. Our pet bowl guide compares separate dishes and water setups.

Keep filter replacement separate from cleaning

Replacing a cartridge does not clean the reservoir, drinking tray or pump. Check the water and equipment regularly, refresh the supply and clean each component according to the fountain maker's guidance. If water flow changes, inspect the setup rather than assuming the cartridge is the only cause.

Follow the fountain and filter makers' replacement guidance for your use. There is no single replacement interval established here for every fountain, household or water condition. Do not rely on the cartridge to disinfect water or make an untreated source safe to drink.

Before checkout, compare your compatibility record with the four- and eight-pack options. If a measurement or model match is unclear, contact JubelPets with the model and measurements before ordering.
